Marvel Select: The Incredible Hulk

I finally got this figure! Had always seen it on the shelf at the comic store before, but always thought it was a statue which I am not interested in. Until I saw the mini review by Shinfellfromthesky, then I knew I had to get it! Went back to the comic store and he was gone! Went back several times but never saw him again!

I decided to check out the comic store today since I was so stressed out from writing the thesis final report over the weekend (which btw cost me $90 to print!?!?). I haven't been to this comic store for close to a year due to the amount of work these two terms! By the way, the store is called Silver Snail, it is probably the best comic store in Toronto, I highly recommend everyone to check it out if you are ever in the area. The store has two levels packed full of figures! It is just awesome to check out. The prices are a little high for some of the stuff you can buy at places like Walmart or TRU, but it is a comic store after all. Anyways, same with every other time I have been there, the feeling is just awesome! It sort of reminds me of toy stores in Hong Kong where the shelves are packed rim to rim full of toys. I walked to the Marvel section and there he was! There was also the red hulk version which cost $10 more, but I will probably go back and pick that up sometime soon. The figure costs $20, which is probably the cheapest you can get it locally. It is the same price online, but then you gotta pay shipping on top, so at this price it was hard to pass up. Looks like I've finally dwelve into this line after wanting to for a long time. There are many other figures in this line that I would love to pick up as well.

TF Haul

Pretty good haul today, got 4/6 of the TF's I wanted to get. Still need to find ROTF Brawn and Lockdown. TRU is having a 25% off sale on all TF's, it's uncommon for the TFA line to go on sale too, so I splurged. So happy that we finally got Wreckgar here, I know he has been released everywhere else for a long time already, but we just got him within these few weeks in Canada. The Wreckgar and Bludgeon were the last ones there too!

TFA still remains to be my favourite line so far!

Tear into them right after! I don't get how some people can keep TF's MOC!?

One thing that saddens me is Bludgeon's head paint (along with several other bits on his body) came chipped right out of the box. Although now that I look at it more, it sort of fits his "war-damaged" look LOL

An Old Friend

I've recently took my violin out of storage, it has been about 7 or 8 years since I have touched it. Picking it up and playing a few notes brings back a lot of memories. Now that I think of it, I somewhat regret stopping my violin lessons. I wish to resume, either through self-learning (we'll see how that goes) or lessons again after school ends. I've learn it for 4 years before I stopped, I just need some time to practice and remember how to play it, I think.

On another note, does anyone play the guitar? Is it hard to self-learn? I was thinking of picking up this instrument sometime in the future as well.

Robot or Alternate mode?

For Transformers fans:

Which modes do you display your Transformers collection in?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For me, I prefer to display them in robot mode because I think that's what they are for. The alternate mode just makes them Transformers and not just plain robots, but I like them because of the robot modes. I rarely display any of my TF's in alternate mode unless they are unique or there's something I don't like about their robot modes. The current TF's that are in alternate mode are Scalpel, Ice cream truck twins, Arcee, and Chromia. The latter two I just like to transform them and they just happen to be in their vehicle modes right now. But Scalpel will stay in its microscope mode because it is too fragile and flimsy in robot mode, and the Ice cream truck twins? I don't even have to explain for that one.

Stress Relieve

What better way to relieve stress then to get new toys??? Even more so because they are on sale! $2 X-men Origins, $5 ROTF scouts, $10 ROTF deluxes.

$2 Wolverines always good.

The mask-less one is great, tight joints and everything. The masked one suffered from loose hip joints so he could barely even stand up on his own. Need to try out the super glue method on him later.
[EDIT] Tried the super glue method on his ball joints and they are much better now, but there are some white residue from the glue. At least he can stand now though.

I've actually never bought any scout class TF's before because I thought they were too expensive for what you get. But at $5 a pop, they are worth it.

ROTF Deluxe Armorhide
Armorhide is a really nice TF. The transformation is simple, but fun. Really nice looking bot. The only other ones I still want from ROTF are Brawn and Lockdown.

Very cool vehicle mode, it reminds me of the vehicles that escorted the cube to the city in the first movie.

Bot-mode looks very cool too. His hands are the driver seats from his vehicle mode too! Very good articulation.

ROTF Scout Dune Runner
This little guy is surprisingly cool. His vehicle mode resembles Armorhide's vehicle mode. I just love the look of these army bots, bulky and packing a lot of firepower.

Even Sgt. Keroro likes him.

Bot-mode, love the guns on his shoulders.

ROTF Scout Scalpel
I was most excited about getting this guy out of all of them. But it turns out to be the worst of them all. One of his transparent hands came separated from the join out of the packaging and because of the design of the peg it goes into, it is loose even after I put it back on. The cups where the ball joints on the legs go into were cracked right out of the package and the legs come off really easily. I couldn't even get him to stand up in robot mode. I think I will just keep him in his microscope mode, which is actually pretty cool looking.

ROTF Scout Dirt Boss
I originally wasn't going to keep this guy because I just bought him to trade for Scalpel later, but end up finding Scalpel during the sale too. But the more I look at him, the more he grew on me so I decided to open him. He is not bad, I like bulky bots so I don't really mind the kibble. Transformation is fun and vehicle mode looks nice.

The blades on his arms look awesome!

Random pics from camera:

Ejector sneaking up on Keroro.

Driving to the train station at dawn, I am starting to really like the early mornings.

Morning

I am going to try to post a pic everyday or every other day. Since I have a camera with me all the time now, it wouldn't be much of a task.

Here's a pic I snapped this morning when I got to school, there was absolutely no one else around!

By the way, just saw this vid on youtube that just made me LOL

Long week

I haven't had time for any updates because I've been working day and night on my thesis. I've been waking up at 5am to get to school around 6:30am and coming home around 11pm-1am this whole week. The final report is due on the 26th of this month, so I am running real short on time, not to mention the other four papers that I have yet to get started on thats due within the next two weeks. On a side note, the Tim Hortons "Roll-up-the-rim" contest have just recently started, and I must have had at least 2 XL a day through the passed week and I have yet to even win a free donut or anything! Talk about bad luck!

Also, I have several things that I got over the past few weeks that I have yet to blog about. Got these stuff last night while I was buying a couple things for my thesis. The extra Ejector is for a friend of mine that have helped me a lot in one of my courses. I think he is only missing Ejector in his ROTF collection haha. A cool HW Lambo and a cheap set of headphones to replace the worn out ones for my Ipod.

Another thing that I have recently bought is a compact camera. It is a Panasonic FX10 from a few years back. I just wanted to have a small camera that I could carry with me all the time and this fits the bill at the moment. Will blog more on this later.

Here's a shot of the view from my lab, quite a nice view huh?

And here's a shot I just took when I got back from school today, was the only car in the whole parking lot!

IM2: 3.75" Mark 1

Love this figure! I bought this at regular price because I have a feeling they will go fast and it will be hard to find later on just like the 6" Mark 1 from the first movie that I never got =(

The articulation is not as good as the Classic IM I got earlier, but it's reasonable since he is a bulky armor after all. His right shoulder joint is a bit loose, but I think I could fix it later. Paint-wise, I didn't have another one to compare it to since it was the only one at the store, but I don't think it's a big problem for this guy because he is suppose to be dirty and scratched up. The paint is already really nice compared to the larger one from the first movie. The "metal" parts look weathered and it's really not that bad, but I still plan on repainting him for a more shiny metal look. There are many little details on him that are all black and could use some detailing to show them off.

Again, I just have to say I am really loving this line of figures. Rarely do I buy ANY figures at full price, but these first two I just had to buy because they just look way cool! The other one that I am still hunting for is the comic version of War Machine. If there's a sale on these, I will probably get them all haha!

The day has come...

...when I received my Iron Ring today. I've been looking forward to this day since I entered university, actually maybe even earlier than that since I knew I wanted to go into engineering since the start of high school if I remember correctly. I just didn't know about the Iron Ring until a friend told me about it in grade 11. But the day has finally come and I am proud to wear it on the pinky of my right hand (working hand). This ring marks the coming end of my university career, but it is just the start of my engineering career.

"The ring symbolizes the pride which engineers have in their profession, while simultaneously reminding them of their humility. The ring serves as a reminder to the engineer and others of the engineer's obligation to live by a high standard of professional conduct. It is not a symbol of qualification as an engineer - this is determined by the provincial and territorial licensing bodies." - (Original text by Camp No. 1, Toronto)
