My Hobby room

A tour through my (incredibly messy) RC room in the basement...

Walking into the cramped pit area...

Storage shelf to the right of the track area just outside the pit area...

Failed attempt to capture the entire track...

Silverlit 1:12 RC Ducati follow-up...

The bike was harder than I expected to drive by itself, let alone on the track! Although I have several Kyosho 1:8 which steers via the lean of the rider, I don't have any experience driving them! I believe two of them are still NIB and one is in pieces getting hopped up somewhere. The only experience I have is from the 1:5 bike, but the steering is a direct link to servo setup; therefore, there is no "delay". So on the Silverlit, I cannot tell if the "delay" in the turning is due to the delay in the transition from the leaning of the rider to the turning of the front forks or if it is a signal delay due to the quality of the electronics. So it will definitely take some time before I can take the bike to the track!

NECA Predator

Got this a while back and just wanted to snap a few shots of it tonight.

Boxing day toy haul...

Went to Walmart today hoping to catch the deal on the 4x 4gb SDHC cards for $20, but they were all sold out by the time I got there. So I went to check out the toy section and there they were! The other two Power Rangers from the Mighty Morphin rere I wanted! For $5 each too! Apparently all the PR toys were on sale at $5. So I picked up a few more from the Jungle Fury series that were pretty neat (have always liked figures with bulky armour pieces).

Great haul to end the year with...

Silverlit 1:12 RC Ducati continued...

Some more pics of the 1:12 Ducati...

Comparison with 1:5 Ducati by Thunder Tiger. Sorry, my 1:8's are in pieces at the moment, so no comparison with those for now, maybe later.

Some detail pics on the Silverlit bike. It looks awesome, decals are applied on cleanly. The bike looks like a model just sitting there. As you can see from the pictures, the rider has a lot of articulation. This is because the steering is done by the leaning of the rider, the front forks are not connected to any servos, but are free moving. This is the same concept as the Kyosho 1:8 bikes. Really neat how they managed to do this in a little bike. The rear wheel is belt driven. I haven't taken a look inside yet, so I don't know what motors and gears it's running.

The controller looks pretty nice, you can see the similarities it has with the designs of KO PROPO, particularly the EX-5. The feel is alright, both steering wheel and throttle trigger is pretty smooth. Adjustments include three profiles of acceleration curves and brakes, and the steering trim. The controller requires 4 AA's to operate. The bike uses a 4-cell 4.8V 1/2AAA pack (220mAH) and comes with a wall charger. Charging time is 30-45 minutes for about 10 minutes of runtime. Better look for some spare battery packs for more track time.

Now for some track time with the bike...stay tune...

Mini review: MEGA BLOKS Neo Shifters - Terra Sfear

Here's some background info from the Toysrus website on this series,

"NEO Shifters are shape-changing robots with laser light-up heads and firing launchers. Sphere opens automatically and changes into a robot. Templars are NEO Shifters infected with a rare malfunction called Hydrax Toxic Syndrome. A Templar will unscrupulously scour galaxy after galaxy for control of water and valuable resources. A duplicitous, arrogant megalomaniac, TERRA SFEAR is leader of the faction, looking for strong soldiers to fulfill the Templar quest for total power."

and a video from Youtube..

Anyways here's my review,

First off, the packaging is really neat. As you can see below, the box is very attractive. It even has one of those hologram(?) picture in the bottom right corner of the box showing the transformation from the pod to the robot.

Inside the box, you will find the parts packaged in separate plastic bags. However, each bag does not correspond to the steps. But there are not a lot of pieces, so it doesn't really matter.

Building process was as easy as it gets. The instructions are exactly like those in Lego. Building time took about 20 minutes. The finished figure is very poseable and looks awesome. Transformation was a breeze too, everything fit together perfectly.

Better pics coming soon...

Gadget haul of the day...

Today's haul...

Got a movie Venom today, it's a little different compared to the Trilogy Venom, including silver webbing (Trilogy one has grey webbing), and different paint apps on the mouth/tongue. Also got several "Neo Shifters" by Mega Blocks, probably going to keep one and give the others as Xmas presents. They are similar to the Bionicles line, but these can transform and IMO they just look better than the Bionicles.

Flash of the past...

Bought this a few weeks back. The second I saw this, I had a flashback in my mind of me as a little kid sitting infront of the TV in my HK home watching this show. After blinking a few times, I thought to myself, WHAT???

This figure is Lord Zedd from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers that aired in around 1993 in HK. It was my favourite show back in the time. I remember having two of the megazords and mutiple figures of the green and the blue ranger (since they were my favourites). Of course, after I came to Canada, those are nowhere to be found now. So when I saw this figure, I was really surprised and I just had to get it. I found out on the back of the packaging that it was a rerelease done in the current Jungle Fury line. Apparently there is also the green, the white, and the black ranger available, but these are so-called "chase" figures, so they are rare. I haven't had luck seeing ANY of them after this one.

Last weekend's haul...

Actually saw Venom first, and then after some digging, I found the whole set of villains in this series!
